It’s great when you begin looking after yourself and learning how self-care can improve your physical and mental wellbeing. You’ve seen some great improvements in yourself, but how can you begin to help individuals around you practice self-care too?

During difficult times it can be hard to find the best way to approach a friend or family member to let them know you think they should be looking after themself. However, there are many ways to let those around you know that you’re supporting them and want to help them look after their mental and physical well being.

  1. Let them know what exactly self-care is! Self-Care isn’t spending hundreds of dollars at a spa or going to yoga each morning at 5am. Self Care is simply taking small steps to reflect and focus on yourself to help calm your anxieties.
  2. Go for a nice walk outside together – If you can spare the time simply going for a walk with a friend is a great way to get out the house or away from work for 30mins and get some fresh air. Hopefully they pick the habit up for themselves!
  1. Get them a small care package (if you can!) – A great way to help a friend and remind them to take a moment for themselves is to give them a little care package. This can be filled with simple and affordable little things such as a face mask or a candle. What matters is reminding that person they need to take a moment for themselves.

We all know how important it is to practice self care and how beneficial it can be for mental and physical well being. Helping friends and family by reminding them to also look after themselves is just as important as looking after yourself.
